JAWBONE
So. This is my website. If you've visited before, then you're aware that it did in fact look different, it had a bit more... color, and a bit more... well, more in general. I haven't fully decided what exactly I want this to look like yet, so I figured something simple, basic, and easy to build on was a good idea. Hence why I removed a majority of the stuff I had, and changed the layout a bit. I do have plans for the links at the top, but as for what those plans are... well I can't really offer more than what they're titled as. By the way, they don't work, so they won't take you anywhere yet.
As for what I was envisioning? I want something that feels like it expresses all of me, but how do you express multitudes? First and foremost, I've been playing pokemon ever since I was a young kid, and that's the main inspiration for this website so far (If you couldn't tell by the name of the website, or the image to the left of this box, or the trainer card that I put together of my favorite pokemon (and 1 legendary, otherwise it would probably look a little different)). But, I've also always been into magic and witchcraft and the occult, and with the release of the game Deadlock (or at least, the ability for me to play it) I've been getting really into the old school occult vibe, which has lended me to look into laying out this website like a newspaper, with each article being an update or an explanation or what have you.
Picking a theme to stick with has always been hard for me. I even considered playing around with the concept of a "locker" type aesthetic, where the landing page was just a closed locker that you could open by pressing the combination lock, but that would give me so much free reign to decorate the landing page with virtual stickers that I would be able to customize and add, which would be so cool and it would allow me to display everything that I'm interested in! However, I am NOT that skilled with either HTML or CSS yet, so that's more of a... down the line project, I believe.
All of that being said, I hope you enjoy your time here, and I hope you enjoy what I end up doing with this place. But realistically, I just hope I enjoy what I'm doing with this place. Thanks for taking the time to read this, and I hope you have a great morning.
(This is an extra paragraph because I don't want to delete it from the HTML just yet.)
(Oh, and here's the trainer card I mentioned.)
This Column is for something, but probably not updates.
So, I think this might be for updates? I don't know for sure yet, but I have things I want to write, so I'll be writing it here.
First thing's first, I want to find a way to make this box one size with a lil scroll bar, that way I can add updates and it can be as long as it needs to be without actually changing how long the box itself is. I think I might do that with the other one too, but I gotta figure out what I actually want these boxes to be used for first. So far, I feel pretty comfortable coming here, editing the text, creating paragraphs, and doing basic HTML work which feels great, but I do know that I want to add a background at some point. That part scares me, because this is a premade layout and I did not bookmark it and I do not remember CSS well enough to just go for it xD. I also need to find (or make) an image that I want to use, and something that will look good... but that requires Ideas of which I have none lol.
I think this column is going to be where I put either the stuff I really want to say, or the stuff that I just cannot leave out. Specifically because this box has a lot of free space beneath it and compared to the two other boxes to it's right, I feel that this one may be "harder" to fill and make as long as those two, so this is going to be where my musings (?), theories (??), and placeholder text (Bruh????) go.
This used to tell you how to bold and italicize.
There was an image below this.
There was a list below this, lmao.
Paragraph
Paragraph.
Paragraph.
Interesting. I made this say just "paragraph" and it seemed to make the container or the column that it was in become so small that it stopped taking up the page and shifted the other column next to it instead of being stacked on top of each other. I wonder if it was a specific word limit thing that made it go "yeah, no, we can both fit up here bro" or if I fundamentally messed something up. I'm currently typing this to figure out if it's a size requirement or not, but I don't remember how long the Lorem Ipsum text was that was here so I'm just kinda winging it. I plan on making it maybe at least five lines long before giving up and stating that I don't actually know what happened and accepting that it may never go back to the way it was because I've put a lot of effort into this already and man, I'd be so disappointed if just replacing the placeholder text ruined the layout lmao.
Good news gang, It was a text length issue and not an HTML or coding issue. As you can see, the box is now full sized again. That's really cool to know, and I'm wondering what part of the CSS is causing it to warp to the text. Is there a way to make a box a certain size and make it stay that size? If there was and I over wrote how much text was in it, would it develop a scroll bar or would the text be doomed to be unreadable until there was one? Would the text just continue outside the box? I still have a lot to lear, but this is exciting!
